Gary Italiaander is known internationally for his work as a Portrait Photographer and Image Restorer in addition to being an Author, Musician, Interviewer, Educator and Guest Speaker. Gary's musical love began with the harmonica (he was a close friend of Larry Adler and has written a book about him). Gary
later studied at the London College of Music, qualified as a piano teacher and became a music specialist. From Music, Gary turned to Photography and soon came to the attention of Harrods where he was to open the Italiaander Portrait Studio. He has been involved with many photographic organisations within the UK and was awarded an Honorary Membership of the Master Photographers Association for work raising funds for charities in association with MPA
photographers throughout the United Kingdom. Gary continues to work with a variety of charities.
Gary's second book, ‘My Father’s War’, is an account of the young British war artist Michael Italiaander - a unique perspective of WWII, richly illustrated with fascinating and amusing stories. The book
also records the remarkable love story of Gary's parents. It is a very touching tribute from a son to his father, filled with charming humour. This is a fascinating insight into military life relating how Gary's father, a man with great artistic skills, was able to contribute to the war effort.
