Hi All,
Fun to connect this morning --
though not everyone can join Live, we can see most catch it later.
During the stream, a couple questions came up about instruction regarding furniture design, making models
and plans. Tom likes to cover these topics within the scope of each project. And with the more recent projects, he has offered a related overview on Shop Night Live preceding the start of a Course.
Rather than throw a list of disjointed links at you, I think I have a better option.
• In 2019, when we were
just beginning SNL, we filmed a series called Designing an Original Piece of Furniture. My guess is those who haven't been around that long probably haven't seen it. So I created a Watch page for it to make the 14 Sessions easily accessible.
It walks you through the steps of a project build that is imaginative and certainly outside the box. Even though you'll likely never build it, it's an adventure through a pretty wild coffee table project. The process just might inspire you!
• In the Bonus Content section, at the bottom of the page, I provided links to the SNL episodes alluded to above. They are generally entitled Designing a... followed by the name of the project. There's also one on Making Models.
As for drawing plans, you'll see Tom's approach presented in small scale in this content, but the actual drawing is pretty involved and probably not something enough of you would opt to do. You can deduce the way he does it by hearing his
explanations.
If interested, you can access the Sessions in the Neighbor Project Zone under the Techniques category. You'll see it next to the Favorite
Finishing Methods Course -- also referred to this morning.
Please remember these videos are from 2019 -- 4 years and several equipment changes have occurred. If nothing else
you'll see how far we've come. Phew! :)
Hope there's some fun in this for you!
