Hey Neighbors!
Tom and I really enjoyed
the Open Shop Hang last weekend and look forward to the next one. As a reminder, if you couldn't make it live, head over and watch the archived version.
It's been a full week of activity, and planning for several things that directly affect you, our treasured Neighbor. So we start here, with promise of more coming later in an
email to the full Epic Mailing List.
1st Epic Workbench home
As you know, Tom is in the throes of completing 3 Epic Workbenches which were put on hold for our 5 week Epic Adventure. We're
thrilled to share that we delivered the first one to Massachusetts yesterday!
Honestly, it was a huge moment, and it looks amazing -- we all agreed it was more like a piece of furniture than a workbench.
Sliding Deadman Session
Now that Tom has designed and made a Sliding Deadman, he's eager to show you the process. This Tuesday, July 2 at 8 pm ET we'll do just that. Join us on the Epic Workbench Watch Page where you'll find the LIVE viewing screen visible for this upcoming unique addendum.
Also, future orders of Epic Workbench Plans will include a hard copy of the Sliding Deadman Plans in a simple letter-size format. NOTE: If you have already purchased Epic Workbench Plans, click the blue link below to have a digital copy of the Sliding Deadman Plans
emailed to you when they're ready.
Visual resources
We added 3 series of photos related to steps referenced in Sessions 15 and 16 of the Epic Workbench. Tom thinks they deserve some focused visuals. You
will find them beneath the heading of each of those sessions.
If you're curious, they cover the following topics:
- Accurate layout options for pre-drilling the leg vise collar and mechanism
- Accurate concentric borings on the chop
- Accurate long boring setup for 3/8” chop pin (drilling the sliding dog block)
Coffee with Tom
Just to put this on your radar -- we have our next Coffee on Saturday, July 13 at 10 am ET. Hope you can make it!
Game Table Course
You've heard Tom mention the next build is a splayed leg table base, specifically designed for a chessboard top which several folks have already made from SNL episodes or Veneering Classes with Tom. Therefore, making the top won't be covered in this Course, only alluded to periodically, and referenced as Bonus Content on the Watch Page.
Tom will be getting the Plans ready so they will be available to purchase in time for the Course, which will go for 3-4 Sessions. For now, here's the schedule, we'll add a 4th date if needed:
- Saturday, July 20 at 10 am ET
- Tuesday, July 23 at 8 pm
ET
- Tuesday, July 30 at 8 pm ET
Remember, you don't need to register for the Course.
As a Neighbor you have automatic access.👍
Sometime in the next couple weeks you will begin to see the link for the project in the Project Zone, which you'll use to get to the Watch Page for each Live session. More details to
come...
Hope this Neighborly News finds you inspired and anticipating what's coming in July! Again, I'll be sending more out to the larger Epic Mailing List later this weekend. Elements of the Game Table Course announcement will be repeated - we just wanted you to be the first to hear it here. 😉
Have a great weekend!
