If you watch enough practice sessions, you'll see pro player favorite drills.
These are the 'go to' drills that players like to use to make sure their game is on track. When they've had a rough round in a tournament, you will see them show
back up on the driving range or in the practice area working on the things they just struggled with during that particular round.
Naturally, this is not a time to try something new. They go right to their list of tried and true favorite drills that they know by heart and are proven to work.

As an example, here is one of Brad Faxon's favorite drills for chip and pitch practice.
He learned it from Phil Rogers, the great player who used to teach the short game to a lot of top players, including Jack Nicklaus.
With this drill, the challenge is to practice chipping and pitching with just your left hand - which is really hard to do!
It teaches you to use the face the right way when you hit a variety of short game shots.
