About the book:

Who knew bugs could become demonic?

A year ago, a series of earthquakes hit around the world. The damage and loss of life were devastating, and the world became weird but no more in the quake zone known as Broken Brooklyn. Bugs became demonic, demons invaded, and people with psychic abilities grew stronger.

Frank Carver and Hector Ramirez, two exterminators, and Jenny Blake, a woman who can talk to ghosts, have created a business to take out these new pests. And business is booming.

When Frank, Jenny, and Hector come across a giant bug, things get even odder: friends go missing, a single female bedbug becomes a prized possession, and Jenny keeps finding bug-possessed people. Frank’s daughter, Angela, an unwilling participant, hears of the coming of the bug king.

As Jenny, Frank, and Hector keep hunting for the female bug and missing friends, they wonder if they are getting closer to what or who caused the earthquake.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
WINDMASTER LEGACY is the second book set in the world of Windmaster. The story of the archmage Dal and Ellspeth, captain of Sea Falcon, haunted me enough that I again put pen to paper. I didn’t want to leave the world of the falaire, and even though I don’t like the deep blue, I liked hanging out with mages and stayed with them.

Since the first book in the series, WINDMASTER, did not end on a cliff-hanger, imagination had to work overtime to come up with another story to tell. Eventually, Lord Dal and Captain Ellspeth told of their plans to journey to his mother’s homeland. A documentary on the Australian outback and a picture of Uluru (also known as Ayer’s Rock) provided the setting. While I know I will never visit Australia in person, the research for and writing of WINDMASTER LEGACY allowed me to visit there vicariously.

How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Who wouldn't like to hang out with a strong, talented woman and a handsome, dark-haired mage? Ellspeth is a combination of everything I thought a leader would be. With her silver hair readers have asked if I based her on myself. The answer is I would be proud to be like her. But there is a problem, I don't like the sea. And I can't play a musical instrument.

A lot of considerations went into creating the archmage, Lord Dal. A chieftain's son, magic cost him the possibility of leading his clan. A talented horseman and skilled swordsman helped him obtain a position in a mercenary unit, but a natural ability to lead helped him rise through the ranks. These same skills aided him after his powers asserted themselves and he eventually became archmage, head of the School of Mages, and responsible for all those with powers. In response to the totality of his experiences and background, duty, honor and loyalty were ingrained into his personality.

Which leads me to one of my favorite characters, Tairneach, head stallion of the fàlaire herd that lives on the landside of the invisible bridge to the Isle of Mages. Inspiration for the falaire came from a childhood picture of me riding a Shetland pony on my family farm.
