Happy Rebellious Tuesday!
In today's update, artificial intelligence (AI) may or may not be a positive development overall, but it's opening up a gold mine for scammers. Among other results, AI
will make it easier for con artists to clone employers' websites and imitate communications.
AI is also fueling voice cloning. As the FTC points out, in the "family emergency" scam -- where you're duped into thinking a family member needs money -- scammers can clone a voice that sounds just like your loved one. "Scammers could also clone the voice of a CEO
or other company executive, then trick employees into transferring large sums of money or to pay a fake invoice," the agency adds.
The FTC is so worried about voice cloning scams, it's offering $25,000 for the best proposal to protect consumers. For details, click here.
Needless to add, AI will also
transform the jobscape. More on that in a separate piece!
