Happy Rebellious Monday!
We hope you had a great weekend. Rainy here in the Bay Area, and in rural CT where Chris lives it's 12 degrees, but sunny. ("Sunlight" in New England seems like moonlight, to me. In Charleston, especially
in the summer, the sun weighs 10 lbs. on your shoulders. If you're bald, your brain crackles. That's why we like fried chicken so much. Reminds us of the smell that comes out of our noses.)
On the job side, if you have a flair for words, RRR's Christa Barbari rounded up seven companies looking for ghostwriters. These are the folks who write incognito for others. You won't get rich, to coin a phrase, but some ghostwriters make over $90k/yr. Of course, pay for beginners would be much less, and AI is steadily
gaining on the writer's world. But for the time being, these jobs are still open.
Speaking of AI, watch out for scam calls that fake the voices of loved ones. A California woman got an urgent call from her "son," pleading for help after a car crash. She almost lost $15,000,
as the SF Chronicle
reports. (With thanks to Malwarebytes for the article.)
Chris also just outed a new WFH scam that is unfolding now. Falling for this one could land you in jail. It looks like it may be originating in Ukraine.
For side cash for your opinions, YouGov is legitimate. Their polls cover topics like race relations, politicians, the state of the economy, sports, etc. Get paid in cash or (if you prefer) gift cards for Amazon, Walmart, Target and other leading brands.
Safe searching, and watch out for those "urgent" phone calls... ~ Mike Haaren
