Happy Rebellious Tuesday!
We hope your day's going smoothly so far. Chris is getting snow out in the boonies in CT, and I'm waiting for the next tremblor here in Sunny CA! (If this edition has some typos, you'll know what
happened.)
Having Fun with Scammers to Start the Day
Speaking of Chris, she got a scam call this morning, supposedly from Amazon. (It wasn't.) An "order verification call." The scammer said she wanted to confirm that Chris had ordered a MacBook, to be sent to Albany, NY. (This was just a ploy to get Chris
worried, so she'd share sensitive personal data.)
So, when the scammer lady said, "Was that you?" Chris said, "Yes! When the hell is it going to get here?" The scammer said, "Excuse me, ma'am. You DID order it? Are you sure?" Chris said, "Of course I'm sure!" A pause on the line, then the woman hung up.
Meanwhile, On the Legitimate Side...
If you're looking for something with no experience necessary, this gig pays you to "repeat what you hear."
You'd be listening to live events, and speaking what you're hearing. Software translates your spoken words into captions. No state
hiring restrictions mentioned. Per the company, it pays 50 cents per minute of captioning, and more if an event runs long. Click here for details.
