Blessings on you from the Elliott family! Thank you for subscribing, and we hope you enjoy today’s newsletter. Sabbath is here, and while we rest today, my goal is to think of as many things that I can to bless and praise my Creator. I have no doubt this will refresh my soul in a way that sleep alone could never do. My goal for this newsletter is to bring a little bit of Scripture, a sprinkle of encouragement, and a dash of hope to your day. I love a good cup of coffee (brewed like this), but if some other drink is more your style, I'm sure that will work. The point is for you to take a break from crazy living, just long enough for a sip of joy.
Daily Bible Verse“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless you, and him that curses you, I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Genesis 12:2-3,
JPS)
bar-ak - the blessing fills the palms, the upturned hands, of the one being blessed, with good things; and
also, the father filled his palms with his sons’ heads when conferring the blessing. Source

Blessing and PraiseBy Anne Elliott, May 22, 2009, AnneElliott.com Many years ago, I looked forward to my first real Mother’s Day, when my children would bring me little crafts and homemade cards and hugs. Now that my kids are really at that age, I love their praises on holidays and
birthdays. Some Jews have a wonderful tradition, where the father and children bless Mom each Sabbath eve. Author Nancy Campbell writes of their family’s sabbath tradition, "My husband then reads Proverbs 31 and praises me. We love to invite others to join our Shabbat table and so we ask each husband present to share
some lovely things about his wife. This is always such a precious time. Can you imagine being praised by your husband every week? Doesn’t it make you want to have a Shabbat meal right now?" Continue Reading
A Day of Rest with Little OnesBy Katie Hirn, HomeschoolingTorah.com Recently, I was asked how do I make Sabbath happen with so many little ones. Currently, in our home we have four preschoolers, and one toddler. We also have ten other children ages 19 and down at home. So, is it even possible to have a day of rest? Continue Reading |
