Blessings on you from the Elliott family! Thank you for subscribing, and we hope you enjoy today’s newsletter. Some weeks are a 10 out of 10 for busy. (This week, for instance, at our house...) The Father warns us, "Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest" (Exodus 34:21). Even in the busiest of
seasons, He knows we need to rest, probably even more so than in the quieter seasons! My goal for this newsletter is to bring a little bit of Scripture, a sprinkle of encouragement, and a dash of hope to your day. I love a good cup of coffee (brewed like this), but if some other drink is more your style, I'm sure that will work. The point is for you to take a break from crazy living, just long enough for a sip of joy.
Daily Bible Verse“You, in your love, have led the people that You have redeemed." (Exodus 15:13, NKJV)

When I Make MistakesBy Anne Elliott, August 18, 2005, AnneElliott.com Lord, I’m so glad You’re gracious with me, even when I make mistakes. Cuz I made a big one today. Then I let it ruin my day. But You’re so kind.

More Hours in a Day...By Anne Elliott, AnneElliott.com I heard this week that when someone is lost in the woods, his first inclination is denial. Then he starts to realize he really is lost, and starts to move faster. It’s called “Bush Panic.” Instead of stopping to evaluate his situation (like, where could I sleep tonight, or what will I eat, or how could I contact someone?), he uses all his energy, often running in
circles… until the sun sets and he’s now in a real pickle. As a busy mother, I’ve often felt “bush panic” at home. My to-do list gets longer, and I start to realize that there is NO WAY I can possibly get it all done — yet I realize that it MUST get done… there will be consequences if I don’t… and others try to help, but they just do it wrong and create even MORE work for me to do… And the panic rises inside of me. I get mad at those around me… or I cry… or I keep going faster and faster, staying up later and later… Until I collapse. Read More |
