Blessings on you from the Elliott family! Thank you for subscribing, and we hope you enjoy today’s newsletter. Shavua tov! It's a new week! All of today's posts are about marriage, trying to examine submission by simply looking at the Bible, so that we get YHVH's perspective on it, rather than a human viewpoint. My goal is to bring a little bit of Scripture, a sprinkle of encouragement, and a dash of hope to your day. I love a good cup of coffee (brewed like this), but if some other drink is more your style, I'm sure that will work. The point is for you to take a break from crazy living, just long enough for a sip of joy.
Daily Bible Verse"If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over
it." (Genesis 4:7)
mashal—rule; regulate; to govern or correct accord to rule; to bring order, method, or uniformity to.

Obedient to Their Own HusbandsBy Anne Elliott, June 25, 2023, AnneElliott.com
There are some instructions in the Bible that I don’t claim to fully understand, but I have determined to try to just do what God says, even if I don’t know the reason why. One such instruction is that wives are supposed to obey their husbands, and ladies who are
getting older are supposed to teach the younger women this. Read More

Motivation for Submission in MarriageBy Anne Elliott, November 5, 2010, AnneElliott.com
Honestly, it’s with a little bit of fear and trepidation that I approach—yet again—the topic of submission in marriage. The only reason I’m brave enough to even try is because my “blogging calendar” says that we’re on question #6 of the study guide for Chapter 2 of my book Juggling Life’s Responsibilities. “Draw a simple chain of command for a family, using 1 Corinthians 11:3 as a guide.” It’s the next thing! Honest! (As Winnie the Pooh has been known to say, “Oh, bother.”) Read More

Who’s In Charge (in Your Homeschool)?By Anne Elliott, June 23, 2012, AnneElliott.com
God’s precious Spirit would never guide you down any path that contradicts what He has commanded in His Word. We know that the Bible says wives are to be in submission to their husbands “in everything” (Ephesians 5:22-24), which obviously must include the way we teach our children. Sometimes the command to submit to my husband frustrates me. After all, he is away at work for most of each day and cannot see how our household runs minute-by-minute. I often feel that he doesn’t understand the problems my son is having in phonics, the hassles I face when trying to teach algebra while preschoolers are getting into trouble, or the difficulties of trying to finish laundry while reading chapter books aloud. Why should my husband get to be the “principal” of our school when he is rarely on school property during the school day? Read More |
