In this hectic world, we are all weighed down by our to-do lists.
With wives, husbands, kids, parents, in-laws, friends, day jobs, and just everyday life, time is at a premium.
Seeking to build a victorious online business but feeling overwhelmed? How can you possibly manage it all?
Drawing from my own experiences, I have a few pieces of advice to share with those struggling with this same situation.
When I first started with my internet marketing business, juggling a full-time job was no easy feat. Yet, through diligence and dedication to carving out spare time on the side, I managed to get things up and running - gaining invaluable insights along the way!
One of the most significant problems is staying organized and keeping track of your accomplishments.
It’s easy to think because we’re in front of our computer or mobile devices or whatever that we’re doing valuable stuff.
If you take a closer look at your daily activities, I am certain that you will discover numerous counter-productive tasks that are keeping you from attaining
success.
For example, email, messaging, chat, groups, and other online connections can be a no-value or
low-value time suck.
Building relationships and staying connected to mentors, coaches, and other professionals that can support you is essential in this
field.
I was astounded when I started monitoring my time to discover that several hours a day were expended
on Skype!
Start tracking your own time and see what you come up with.
Whether you prefer the convenience and speed of an automated app or the time-honored tradition of pen and paper, there is a method to suit your
needs.
Either way, it’s the best way to figure out where you’re bleeding time.
If you're anything like me, you understand that occasionally disconnecting from devices and social media is essential for your
own health. Therefore, take some time out each day to power down your cell phone, messaging, and other gadgets so that you can reset them.
I promise it's not going to hurt you. Those messages will be there for you when you ‘plug back in’.
Yet, by taking that time away, you'll find EXTRA time you never even knew was there.
Ultimately, be honest with yourself about the amount of work you can accomplish each day.
I used to write task lists that would go on for pages every morning.
Yet, at the end of the day, I’d only have 3 things on my list of 30-something tasks actually done.
And of course, those were the easiest things on that list to get done😉
So be realistic with yourself and make sensible and achievable to-do lists.
It's easy to say but hard to do - I know from my own experience.
And while I know it takes discipline, you end up getting a lot more
done when you give yourself manageable goals and expectations.
Next up is good old focus.
Now, ideas are great and can come to you in an instant, yet they can send you down rabbit holes that are hard to pull yourself
out of.
That’s why I have a special idea notebook, where I write down these random things that just hit me as
“possibly will get to these later”...
That way I have taken note of my cool idea and maybe I will get to
revisit it later and make something of it.
But, I don’t divert my attention from the real tasks at
hand.
Finally, this one is sooooooo simple and so hard at the same time.
But, really you just have to get to it.
Write your task list and DO THEM.
Don't think about how you're going to get them done, or what the best order to get them done is.
Actually, DO THEM.
I had this one way to procrastinate where I’d get a new notebook from Office Max (I love that store) and then I’d come home and I’d create this really beautiful task list - with objectives and goals and the whole 9 yards.
I mean, this thing looked great.
When I was done creating my task list, I’d call it a day, and grab some sleep, patting myself on the back for a job well done.
But, the truth is, I really only wasted valuable time.
Putting a task list down on a napkin is far more valuable if you actually get the tasks done.
Because those are where the money is at.
I have found that more time is wasted by thinking about getting something done when you could just be doing it and making it happen.
Now, I know you cannot create more time out of thin air.
We’re not wizards here.
Yet, I think if you take a good hard look at where you’re spending your time today, you’ll find that implementing these tips can free up some extra time.
Which will allow you to get more done.
Getting you that much closer to the success you desire, faster.
Finally, the shortest path to profit online is right here in front of
you.
To your success,
Bozie
