Hey friend,
Have you ever felt stuck?
Afraid of moving forward?
Or just tired of overthinking to the nth
degree?
Then this message is for you.
I know all about being afraid and “stuck.”
I know what it’s like to be constantly consuming information, constantly spinning, doing this, trying that, looking here, looking there, but never moving forward.
For me, part of the problem is overthinking.
Even my mentor says I’m too “thinky” (my word, not hers).
At first, it came out like a negative.
“No one is responding to your stuff,” she said, “because it requires too much thinking. People don’t have time for
that.”
I felt deflated, but she quickly course-corrected.
“You attract thinkers,” she said.
Well … I kind of liked that!
I attract thinkers.
Yea! Now that’s all right.
How about you? If you’re reading this, you must also be a thinker!
Yay, us!
Which brings me to the reason for this post.
I was reading “You Can’t Scale Hustle: 3 Steps to Make More Money with Your Mind” a guide by Jacqueline Marie
Edwards.
In the guide, Jacqueline talks truth about how our brains keep us from doing the stuff we really want to be doing. She shares her experience of being stuck by old beliefs, and what happened when she started shifting those beliefs, going on to more than TRIPLE her earnings, going from $80K to $250K:
I didn’t make
all that extra money because I found a new funnel or created a better Facebook ad," she says. "I made that money because I had practiced the belief and tried it on and talked about it so much that my brain finally believed it. I was able to stop believing that I was worth what my old company told me I was. I started believing that I could make however much money I wanted."
She didn’t need a new funnel.
She didn’t need a better Facebook ad.
She practiced the new belief.
She ACTED.
Get that?!? SHE ACTED!
That aligns perfectly with what a former coach taught me:
Confidence doesn’t come BEFORE we do something. It comes AFTER!
Think about it.
Remember when you first jumped off the high dive?
Or got into a plane after 9/11?
Or made your first offer to your list?
It was scary as hell, right?!
But you did it anyway.
And suddenly, you KNEW you could do it!
Suddenly, the confidence showed up!
And that brings me
back to Jacqueline. She says:
Most of us spend too much time in self-doubt and inaction because we are worried about a potential future feeling and we don’t think we can handle that feeling. Maybe we will be embarrassed if we fail. Maybe we will be stressed if we spend more money. Maybe we will be hurt if a client says ‘no’ to us. Maybe we will be ashamed if we tell everyone our
goal and don’t reach it. Those are all just feelings and feelings can’t cause permanent damage.
The moral of the story?
Just DO it.
Take that action.
So what if you get it wrong?!
You'll still gain confidence, probably enough confidence to want to do it again.
I’m rooting for you … for all of us!
Until next time,
Write on,
Renae :)
