Hi ,
Happy Monday, my dear - I hope you're having a good start to the week!
I've been getting a lot of DMs and questions and requests for me to share more about my health & wellness and what I've been doing especially since I've been pretty open with you girls around my PCOS journey and hormonal issues, fertility...etc
etc.
There's really not a one-size-fits-all way to take the best care of ourselves, however, a lot of what we are taught is in this very black and white one-size-fits-all way... and that just hasn't worked for me.
Of course, I need to put a disclaimer here and tell you that everything I am about to say and share is not medical advice and should not be construed as such - these are just my own personal opinions and
experiences.
I've shared some bit about my hormonal issues, and subsequently, things around weight loss, skin care, and getting healthier in general.
And I've spent a lot of time recently researching how to improve my health while taking a magnifying glass to analyze my lifestyle.
In my dive into the rabbit hole, I really have to say, I think East Asians have this down... the level of care and attention around
feminine wellness is top tier; the teas, the massages, the food pairings, and even foot soaks!
So combining some knowledge from the East and West, I wanted to share with you a few things I'm committed to doing for the next few months:
Avoiding:
- Added sugar & refined carbs (lower inflammation)
- Cold & raw foods (less stress on body)
- Fried foods & seed oils (lower inflammation)
- Dairy (lower
inflammation)
Doing:
- Sleeping before 10:30pm (adequate rest and repair)
- Walking 10k steps a day (~1 hour) (lymphatic draining & low intensity movement)
- Hot foot soaks at least 3x a week with Sichuan peppercorn (helps with metabolism)
- Hot saunas at least 1-2x a week (helps get rid of toxins)
- Drinking jujube & apple tea (heals digestion, good for skin)
- Drinking Four Herbs Soup (heals spleen and stomach, and gets rid of dampness - I don't know how to explain dampness other than comparing it to unwanted unhealthy moisture in your body that causes problems)
Now if you care to do this with me or something similar, then great! If not, it's ok too, do what works for you :)
But with the energy of the solar eclipse today, it's
a great time to rest, focus on healing, and engage with the habits you've been struggling with but wanting to build.
Love you lots,
Nadeen
