Hi ,
A few years ago, I met a girl who asked me...
"Why do all the Chinese moms and aunties let themselves go after they have a kid? Like they stop dressing up and all cut their hair short? Do they not care to look good for their husbands?"
She said this because she felt like in her culture, women tend to take
care of themselves more.
And it actually got me observing and thinking.
Now I don't think this has much to do with culture, but I do think that having ample support from family or having help around the house when you have kids gives you back a lot of time.
When mom has to cook, clean, take care of the kids, tend to her husband, grocery shop, drive around to run errands, and she's doing this pretty much 24/7 without help,
how could she have the energy to take care of herself let alone care about how she looks? She's EXHAUSTED.
Some families are lucky that the grandparents are willing to help and alleviate some of the stress.
Some families are able to afford comfort and convenience, and can hire nannies.
Some families have loving husbands who understand the responsibility of loving and taking care of his wife, and will step up to do even
more around the house when the baby comes.
The moms and wives you see who are all dolled up and glowing and just SO HAPPY is because they have TIME to do it. And usually, that time is created by supportive husbands who physically help or provide outside help so things get taken off her plate.
The raggedly, tired, exhausted wives are not happy and definitely not well loved by her man because it's obvious that he doesn't care.
So
just rememebr that when I say that you can really tell how much a woman loves herself by the man she chooses, this is an example of what I mean.
Love,
Nadeen xx.
