In 2019, my world was shaken. My beloved mother-in-law Tessie, a woman who was not just family but a guiding light in my life, was tragically taken from us. 

For over two decades, she was my confidante, like a second mother. 

Each Christmas Eve, her home was a haven of joy and warmth. We gathered around a cozy fire, sharing stories, laughter, and the love that only a family can give. 

When she left us, she took a piece of our hearts with her. 💔

The emptiness at the festive table, her missing smile, and the laughter we yearn to hear again – these are constant reminders of the precious bond we lost. 

The holiday traditions continue in her honor, but her absence casts a long shadow, making the joy feel muted, the laughter a little forced.

Yet, in this journey of grief, I've found small beacons of light that guide me back to joy.

In the spirit of tradition, I turn to the kitchen.
