Hi from Jodi and Julie

We hope you are all having a great summer so far!  We thought a lot about this month's "Get it Done" Challenge and decided to do something that SHOULD be helpful for your summer road trips and we should all be doing it anyway :)
JULY "GET IT DONE" CHALLENGE:  Car Kit Update
Having an emergency kit in your car is something that can be life-saving in extreme cases, and sanity-saving on a regular basis.  For our July challenge we are encouraging everyone to do THREE things for their car kits.

1.  Do an inventory:  What supplies do you have in each vehicle?
2.  Do a rotation:  Swap out seasonal items, rotate food and water
3.  Expand your kit:  Consider additional items you might want to add

HOW TO CREATE AN EMERGENCY CAR KIT

When you are putting together your kits there are basically 8 categories of items to include:
  • Everyday emergency items
  • Food and water
  • Basic first aid supplies
  • Vehicle repair tools and supplies
  • Clothing, shelter, and other items to stay warm or cool
  • Communication and emergency signaling
  • Light source
  • Entertainment
We recommend starting with the basics in each category (you most likely already have many of these things in your vehicle) and then as time, space, and budget permits you can expand on your kits.  If you are going on a long road trip it's always a good idea to bolster your kits even further.

For a complete list of basic items to include plus links to a wide variety of other lists for more advanced kits please visit the Evacuation/Car Kit section of our website.

QUICK TIP:  Amazon.com is one of our favorite places to shop for Emergency Car Kit Supplies.  They have a huge selection and free shipping on orders over $35!

We hope you have a great July and don't forget to GET IT DONE!
