Emergency Kits for School or Work {{Valentine's Day Gift Ideas}}

Published: Thu, 02/11/16

Hi from Jodi and Julie!

We have two fun ideas to share with you today in honor of Valentine's Day coming up. You may or not make a big deal out of celebrating this holiday, and you may or may not buy or make gifts for your spouse or children, but regardless this is something that you can do to show that you care ... which is what we all can agree the holiday SHOULD be about!

Emergency Kit for the Office

Do you have a loved one that works in an office?  Have you ever thought about what would happen if they were stuck at work and couldn't get home to where all your "preps" are located?  You may have a stocked kit in your vehicles, but what if they are trapped in the office and can't access it?  Put together a little "72 hour" kit that they can stash in their desk at work and ease your worries a little bit should something happen during the work day.

Emergency Kit for the School

One of our biggest fears is having a crisis hit when our children are separated from us.  Schools have emergency plans in place, but giving your kids a few more resources to keep on hand is never a bad thing!  It will give you a little peace of mind and also help empower them to be a little more in control should a scary situation arise.  We've put together a gift idea to put these kits together for you school-age children to keep in their backpacks or lockers.

Valentine's Recipe Ideas

Another fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day is to make themed meals or treats for your family.  It's fun to get festive with your foods by making them pink or heart-shaped.  Here are a few recipes that you can use to make some Valentine's goodies if you need ideas:

Best Sugar Cookies (heart shapes and pink frosting)
Cream Cheese and Jam Heart Cookies
Blender Pancakes (heart shapes, strawberry syrup)
Homemade Mac n Cheese (color it pink for an adventure)

We hope this is helpful for last minute little "gifts" to show your family you care this weekend.  If you do end up making one of the kits we would love to have you come and share a picture of it over on our Facebook page.  It's so fun for us to see what you all are up to!

Have a great week.
