Hi from Jodi and Julie!

Recently we've had a few close friends have some variation of this conversation with us.  "Julie, I think I'm ready to really start using and rotating some of this food storage that I've bought.  What should I start with?"  Our family and friends know that we have a blog and know that we use our food storage every day but they still don't know exactly how to get these great foods out of their storage and onto their stovetops.  This year we are going to change that!

From Storage to Stovetop Series

We are excited to announce our new "Storage to Stovetop" series where we will be posting periodic videos/posts highlighting common individual food storage items.  We will share with you exactly how WE use them on a regular basis.  We will invite you into our kitchens and share our tips and tricks so that you can feel confident in starting to use these things yourself.  It doesn't do anyone any good to have a basement full of food and no clue what to do with it!  Make sure you are subscribed to our YouTube channel and our Facebook group as that is where we will be posting many of these.  Normally we will do a little video highlighting one product and show you our favorite ways to use it but today we wanted to start out with a cooking tool we really like to use to bring our food from storage to stovetop.

InstantPot

Some of our favorite tools for getting grains and legumes out of our storage and onto our stovetops have been a crockpot or electric pressure cooker.  They take the guess work out of cooking dried beans and make it easy and quick to make yummy dinners using food storage.  We recently discovered the InstantPot which is a combination of these two kitchen appliances plus 5 other appliances as well (crazy cool right?).  We both got our own at Christmas time and we know many of you did too, so we wanted to feature some of our favorite recipes that either USE the InstantPot or can easily be converted from a crockpot or regular pressure cooker.

InstantPot-Friendly Recipes

Remember if this is a crock pot recipe you simply cook it in the InstantPot and use the "Slow Cook" setting.  If it is a pressure cooker recipe, you can either choose the type of food it is (beans, soup, etc.) or choose the "Pressure" setting and do low or high depending on what the recipe says.  Hopefully this list will get you started, there are also a lot of specific InstantPot Cookbooks on Amazon that you may want to check out!
We hope you enjoy this first installment of our From Storage to Stovetop series.  We look forward to sharing our tricks with you and hopefully hearing from some of you on how YOU are getting your food storage onto your kitchen table on a regular basis.  Have a great week!
