Light the World: Feed the Hungry

Published: Wed, 12/06/17

Hi from Jodi and Julie,

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving. We are excited to be participating in this year's #LightTheWorld Christmas campaign. For 25 days we are serving in small ways with our families to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We have been using this calendar for inspiration as we have been planning our Christmas activities.
Feed the Hungry
You'll notice on day 21, the focus is to Feed the Hungry:  “For I was an hungered and ye gave me meat.” (Matthew 25:35)

You may be wondering why we are emailing you about this - well we need YOUR help. On day 21 we want to create a post on our blog with a recipe book of freezer meals that people can use to provide meals to families in need.  We want to ask YOU to submit your recipes to help us with this project and then we will email out the final result to all of you as soon as it's ready!  With this book, we hope we can all be better equipped and prepared to serve those in need of meals in the upcoming year.
Bringing meals to people who are going through big life changes is among one of the most popular and appreciated ways to serve and feed the hungry. New baby, funeral, sick kids, moving, stressed, depressed, you name it - it's nice to have a meal brought in to save you time and energy.

If you want to participate in this cookbook, please submit your best freezer-meal recipes (tried and true recipes that you know turn out well)
  • Include ingredients with full freezing and cooking instructions
  • Include how many people it serves if you know
  • Include any tips you have that make bringing a meal to someone easier
  • Include any tips you have that you SHOULDN'T do when bringing people meals
  • Email us your submission by December 15th to [email protected]
  • Once we have the book compiled remember to open your emails from us so you don't miss it!
Often times the need to bring a meal comes at an unexpected time. Having a meal all ready to go in your freezer is a great way to be prepared.

Thank you so much in advance and we hope you have a service and love-filled holiday season.
