 2015 Spring Summer Colors Trends

Leatrice Eiseman from Pantone Color Institute says that this season there is a move toward the cooler and softer side of the color spectrum. An eclectic, ethereal mix of understated brights, pale pastels and nature-like neutrals take center stage as designers draw from daydreams of simpler times. Remembrances of retro delights, folkloric and floral art, and the magical worlds of tropical landscapes restore a sense of well-being as we head into warmer months.

Many feel compelled to be connected around the clock because we are afraid we’ll miss something important. There is a growing movement to step out and create ‘quiet zones’ to disconnect from technology and unwind, giving ourselves time to stop and be still.

Color choices follow the same minimalistic, ‘en plein air’ theme, taking a cue from nature rather than being reinvented or mechanically manipulated. Soft, cool hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.

The 5 Spring Summer 2015 hottest colors

Pure white or intense colors? This Spring Summer 2015 you don’t have to make a choice: since white is definitely the coolest color of the season, that perfectly fit every trend seen on the catwalk (both Seventies trend and Minimal trend) it won’t certainly be a monochromatic summer. Indeed: every collection is super colored – both plain and block melted colors are featured.

Which one to choose? The color we love the most, of course. But some colors have ruled the catwalks and will keep on leading even the Winter collections: here are the 5 trendy colors we find are the best to choose from.

Red. Perfect if you want to be noticed, looks good both on blondes and brunettes. It’s fierce and yet not aggressive.

Blue. And all of its nuances, from pale blue to ultramarine. Even though the coolest one of the season is definitely the denim blue, blue by definition (a Spring Summer 2015 must have).

Yellow. A bit hard for a total look but quite beautiful if used as a pop-up color paired with pale blue for a delicate effect or paired with black to rock on.

Pink. Leading color in the last few seasons, is still standing. It can be matched with almost anything, but in summer is perfect both alone and paired with white.

Green. Even in this case, all of its undertones: from the washed out green hippy-protester uniforms  reaching the aquamarine green.

The Gemstones of Spring!

Spring is underway, and color is slowly blooming all around us! Are you looking for ways to incorporate colorful gemstones into your jewelry wardrobe?

Peridot a bright, spring green, this gemstone is also known as olivine and is formed from volcanic activity. Peridot has also been found on some meteorites! In ancient times, it was believed that peridot was a gift from Mother Nature to celebrate the return of spring. Looking at the bright, sparkling hues of peridot, it's easy to understand why this gemstone would be associated with the blossoming of trees and plants after a long, cold winter.

Carnelian is another  long-time favorite gemstone. It looks beautiful when mixed with sterling silver or even African brass beads.

Rose quartz has always been a popular gemstone for jewelry makers. Quartz, in general, is the second most abundant mineral found on Earth, and jewelry made with all types of quartz has been found dating back to prehistoric times. Rose quartz gets its pink color from trace amounts of titanium, iron or manganese. Rose quartz crystals are rare, and need special care to prevent the color from fading in sunlight.

Orange calcite is another one of those warm and yummy gemstones that will brighten up your spring jewelry. The ancient Trilobites (now extinct) had a lens of clear calcite that helped them see underwater. In ancient times, it was believed that orange calcite could alleviate depression. It's easy to understand why, when you look at the bright, sunny color of calcite gemstone beads!

Amethyst is also a type of quartz, but how it gets its gorgeous purple color is still something of a mystery. Manganese and sulfur have both been detected in amethyst stones, and when heated, amethyst gemstones can simulate the bright yellow color of citrine.
