April 30, 2023, "International Jazz Day", the final day of "Jazz Appreciation Month" ("JAM"), is celebrated via innumerable live jazz performances throughout the world.

International Jazz Day was originally organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ("UNESCO") in 2011 "to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe."

UNESCO will be streaming a Global Jazz Day Concert that "...will feature an extraordinary selection of jazz performances from Austria to Zimbabwe, highlighting the power of jazz in bridging differences and promoting unity and peace through intercultural dialogue and collaboration."

JAM was created by the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in 2002 to celebrate the extraordinary history of jazz for the entire month of April. JAM is intended to stimulate and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz - to study the music, attend concerts, listen to recorded jazz, read jazz books, and more.
