Legislative

With inflation in the news and interest rates soon to be on the move, please make sure your business model is prepared for the ensuing financial headwinds. The Fed is signaling a rate increase in March of 2022, with a “couple more” for the remainder of the year. Additionally, the IRS is focusing on business owners who took Covid-related funds over the last 2 years. Please be sure to work with a knowledgeable tax person to avoid the unpleasantness of an audit.

While these may seem more financial than legislatively focused, the legislators are concerned about the increasing costs and delays for supplies, but they are all more worried about their own re-elections. With the mid-year election cycle coming in November there will be an increasingly disparate and shrill call that things are either doing much better or far worse, depending on whose interests are of concern. Word of advice: seek balance and truth early and often, as they will be harder to find as the year progresses. Then breathe deep before making decisions.
