Hi ,

It's a new month and we're kicking it off with some acclaimed new releases.

A Few Days AwayA FEW DAYS AWAY IS OUT NOW!

Tony Knighton's new, original crime novel A Few Days Away, which scored a coveted STARRED review from Publishers Weekly, is out now in ebook, paperback and hardcover. PW called it "Brilliant. Superior prose matches the clever plot."

And what a great plot it is! On Valentine’s Day, a professional thief and his partner robbed a bank in a Central Pennsylvania town. It all went well until they tried to get away. His partner was killed, the money was lost, and the injured thief barely escaped with his life. Now, four months later, he’s going back for his money. But he’s not the only one after it. Corrupt cops, warring street gangs, white nationalists and crooked politicians all agree on one thing—they want him gone. Permanently.

The Crime Fiction Lover, a UK site, raved about the book, too.

"A Few Days Away is a hard-edged contemporary noir novel with a relentless anti-hero—a thief with no name. It’s a taut, pacy tale referencing Richard Stark’s Parker novels, but with even more icy cynicism. Knighton’s thief and his unswerving, self-declared righteousness will delight pulp fans."

SANFORD GETS SOME LOVE

The Old Man's PlaceThe prestigious Los Angeles Review of Books (LARB) has published a terrific essay on ground-breaking crime writer John Sanford (not the PREY guy), author of the long-lost crime fiction classics MAKE MY BED IN HELL and THE OLD MAN'S PLACE (now back in print from Brash!). You can read it here.

Meanwhile, the Paperback Warrior loved both of our John Sanford books. Here's an excerpt of their enthusiastic review of The Old Man's Place:

"Sanford's The Old Man's Place is a carefully designed character study bursting with tension and intrigue... Like his novel Make My Bed in Hell, John Sanford is nothing short of extraordinary with The Old Man's Place. It's darkly wonderful and honest, well ahead of its time considering the 1935 publication date. Sanford is seemingly timeless, possessing a rare skill-set that rivals some of the best noir authors of all-time. My hat is tipped to Brash Books for affordably inviting modern ages to experience this sensational author. "

Make My Bed In HellAnd here's an excerpt from their rave review of Make My Bed in Hell:

"Sanford really shined as a complex, but readable, young author that had a unique voice. Considering the wealth of literature I have devoured over 30 years, I've never read a novel like this one. Despite its 1939 conception, the book is seemingly timeless... Sanford's characters are hardened by strife and the land they plow and that gritty combination affected me long after the final pages were read."

You can buy THE OLD MAN'S PLACE here... and MAKE MY BED IN HELL here.
