A big CONGRATULATIONS to so many of you this year who achieved your publishing dreams. I will be noting several of you as the weeks go along, but let's start with this one -- and a PARTY!
Lara Fanning has completed her dystopian series and is celebrating with a Book Party Online Launch Dec. 22 at 4 pm (Pacific Standard Time) on a FaceBook group, the Band of Dystopian Authors page:

Lara explains, "The launch party includes some author Q and A, book discussions and recommendations, and games with prizes to be won. It is not a traditional launch and requires you to post photos and comments on interactive posts made by myself and the admin, and will be super fun."
This is just one example of how to stimulate interest and blow your own horn when your book launches. Social media offers lots of opportunities to get the word out and have fun in the process.
Consider joining any FaceBook or other social media group that specializes in your genre. Join in the conversations and see what you can learn about these readers. Then, as an active member, you may have the opportunity to announce your book when it is launched--or even have an online party of your own.
Now I'm just wondering how I can access the punch and cookies I expect at any party!
