Hi
I remember that in my last newsletter to you I was getting all excited about Ben's birthday. He was very laid-back about the big day - which also happens to be St George's Day - St George being the patron saint of England. And now he is even more laid-back, having received his birthday gift - a quilted topper for his dog-bed....
In very patriotic colours for St George's Day - with the red gingham sashing forming the cross of St George. The squares were all pieced from linen scraps and old shirts using the stitch and flip technique, the batting was part of an old blanket and the backing some reclaimed twill fabric. Bound with cotton tape the whole topper cost less than £6 (that's under $10 US!). And as each square measures 12"and the finished piece is 54" x 66" I think that was pretty good value! I've included some information on making this bed topper in the May Issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine
, together with my tutorial on stitch and flip. You can download the Stitch'n'Flip tutorial for free here. Also in the magazine, Leah Day will be sharing some of her expertise on free motion quilting .. and there was a lot of free motion quilting on Ben's topper so I found her advice extremely useful!! Below you'll find the link for your free sample of my new printable bunting - the full birthday set is included in the magazine - but I thought I'd give you the link for the sample again as a number of new subscribers said they hadn't received it .....
Please click here to download your free sample. The full range, including Country Wedding, Birthday Party Pastels and Flirty Floral Flags will be listed on the Bustle & Sew website on 1 May. And in honour of Ben's birthday, the full set of the 16 flags above are included in this month's Bustle & Sew Magazine.
And another free-motion quilting - and applique - project is included in this month's magazine - that's it above, the Springtime Cushion. Also in the magazine is my new Rosie & Bear "First Stitches" Sampler:
Floral Fabric Birdhouse Clock:
And a pair of machine applique pictures "One Sunny Morning"
Plus vintage patterns, articles, blog of the month and more ... phew, I have been SO busy!! And now is a brilliant time to subscribe... you'll receive the current Issue (April) plus your free copy of "The Stitcher's Companion" straight away, followed by the May issue on Thursday 26th April.
The projects from the April Issue are the four shown above.
So, just to recap - you'll receive patterns for all the projects shown in this newsletter plus my e-book (value $20) for just $5.50 when you subscribe. And if for any reason you decide the magazine isn't for you, you can unsubscribe at any time without penalty.
