February 2013 - Issue 103 - www.clareevans.co.uk

Hello ,

How are your New Year Resolutions going (if you set any)? Don't worry if, like a lot of people you've given up.  Now is a perfect time to review and reset.

What is the change you want to make? The chances are you didn't have a clear vision of what you wanted and the right motivation to make the change. You might have a tendency to bite off more than you can chew rather than taking it one small step (or bite) at a time.

If you'd like to be more focused and organised, theKick Start programme gives you proven tools and techniques and is a great way to re-start and create a plan of action. They were popular last month and there are just three packages available in March.  Hit reply to grab one of them now.

Get in touch, let me know how you're getting on - just hit reply and tell me, what's going well or perhaps not so well for you so far this year.  I'd love to hear from you.

Stay connected through my blog, on Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook.

Clare

P.S. Feel free to pass this newsletter on to your friends and colleagues.  Thank you.

Increase your company's productivity

What do you need to change or do differently that will make a big difference to you or your organisation?

What are the key habits your company needs to adopt which will increase your overall productivity and enable everyone to work better and more efficiently?

While I often work with individuals I also run workshops for teams and organisations. There are habits and key practices that many organisations could implement that would have a positive impact on the productivity of the whole organisation.

Two key areas which are a great source of time-wasting are email and meetings.

Email

Many people comment on how much time they spend in their Inbox or working on their emails. Too many people rely on email as their primary means of communication and as a result can end up using it inappropriately.

Unnecessary emails take up huge amounts of time and space. Over 50% of people are likely to spend up to 2 hours a day on their email.

As an organisation, if you implement an email policy and guidelines on the correct use of email, you'll make everyone's life and their Inbox a whole lot easier and more manageable. Even as an individual you can create your own guidelines for writing and responding to email.

Meetings

Meetings can take over a business with far too many people spending too much time in unproductive, disorganised meetings - wasting time for everyone involved and costing their business thousands in lost working hours.

It's not just about the actual time spent in the meeting but time spent preparing for meetings, travelling to and from meetings, follow-up and actions resulting from the meeting.

In these days of VoIP and video-conferencing - dispersed and remote teams can stay in touch without having to travel to meet up face to face.

Make sure the right people are included in the meeting and that meetings have an agenda, objectives, a clear outcome and are run to time.

While it's important to avoid holding meetings for meetings sake, they can be a good way to reduce constant distractions and ad-hoc conversations - if they're appropriate, well planned and effective.

If you're interested in putting together an email policy for your company or creating guidelines for more productive and effective meetings - contact me for more information.

Until next month.
