This Week's New (or Improved) Hotels

Your next visit to "Gator" country can be appropriately "Green" thanks to the new "EcoRooms" and "EcoSuites" certification earned by the Residence Inn by Marriott Gainesville I-75.  The hotel was built using recycled steel, environmentally safer products are used for cleaning, recycling receptacles are all over the place and water efficiency is part of everything from toilets to rooftop runoff.

 

Sticking with the "healthy" theme: Desert areas like Las Vegas are usually good for those with allergies, but the Doubletree Club Las Vegas Airport has taken it up another notch.  They've announced that the Doubletree is the first hotel in Nevada to have a floor of "PURE Allergy Friendly Rooms".  That means that the air handling units in each room get special cleaning and the "soft surfaces" in the room are sanitized to remove potential allergens.
