Cunard's Royal Rendezvous

Cunard Cruise Line's three ships - the Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and the new Queen Elizabeth will meet in New York harbor for a celebration on January 13, 2011. It is only the second time in the 171-year history of Cunard that the entire fleet will gather in New York. It is also the Queen Elizabeth's first visit to the city. The celebration will include fireworks at the Statue of Liberty at 6:45 pm. To learn more about all the cruises from New York, please see the New York Cruise Guide.

This Week's New (or Improved) Hotels

Despite the economic climate, the number of hotel rooms in New York City continues to grow.  The latest additionsa are in the new 20-story Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/SoHo.  It's got what they call a "sleek, modern" exterior, located on Varick Street (essentially the extension of 7th Avenue south) just a couple of blocks from the Holland Tunnel.  The "Refreshing Business" lobby is a place to work, relax and take advantage of the free WiFi.  Guest rooms are all decked out in warm earth tones, bronze and copper.

Pittsburgh visitors have an additional 178 hotel rooms to choose from with the opening this week of the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh-North Shore.  The riverfront location puts you just across the bridge from downtown Pittsburgh.  It's an even better location for sports fans: the Hyatt Place is essentially in the parking lot of PNC Park (home of the Pittsburgh Pirates) and a five minute walk from Heinz Field (home field of the Steelers).  42" HDTVs for every room, plus the "plus Hyatt Grand Bed", give you all the comforts of home - maybe more.
