Facebook

TheRealPlaces.com now has a Facebook page!  It's the newest way of keeping up with the latest in travel deals and news from one of the web's fastest-growing travel planning sites.  You'll also find Facebook "Like" buttons on most of the pages at TheRealPlaces.com so you can share your travel adventures with your FB friends.

Carnival Cruise Confetti

Carnival Cruise Line is the official "confetti sponsor" for the New Year's Eve celebration in New York's Times Square. A ton of colorful Carnival Confetti will be dropped by 100 "confetti dispersal engineers." They will also give away a cruise. If you can't be in Times Square for New Year's Eve, consider taking a cruise from New York. Carnival and other lines offer cruises all year-round.

This Week's New (or Improved) Hotels

Despite the economic climate, the number of hotel rooms in New York City continues to grow.  The latest additions are in the new 20-story Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/SoHo.  It's got what they call a "sleek, modern" exterior, located on Varick Street (essentially the extension of 7th Avenue south) just a couple of blocks from the Holland Tunnel.  The "Refreshing Business" lobby is a place to work, relax and take advantage of the free WiFi.  Guest rooms are all decked out in warm earth tones, bronze and copper.

As of Wednesday, December 15th, Las Vegas has a new mega-hotel: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.  They've got almost 3,000 rooms, with some suites that are around 5,400 square feet.  Plus all the luxury amenities you'd expect in the current "economically challenged" Las Vegas environment.  Come see what $3.9 billion can build!
