Livelier LA Live

Over the past couple of years the area just south of downtown Los Angeles near the convention center and Staples Center has experienced major growth with the opening of the "LA Live" entertainment complexLA Live includes the Nokia Theater (home of the Emmy awards) and several smaller venues - and it's all right across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center.  This week's new addition to the complex is the JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles.  In an unusual arrangement, the Marriott's 878 guest rooms will share a 54-story tower with the new and much smaller (123 rooms) Ritz-Carlton and the Ritz-Carlton Residences.  The new JW Marriott includes 52 guest suites and 100,000 square feet of it's own meeting space.

Kids Can Customize Cruises

On Disney Cruise Line kids can now customize their own cruise vacation. More activities are available and kids choose based on interest, not age. Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab are open to children age 3 to 12 on Disney Wonder and 3 to 10 on Disney Magic. The entire menu of offerings is available to every kid and siblings of different ages can participate together. Highlights include Cinderella's Royal Ball, Captain Hook's pirate training, Toy Story Boot Camp, Ratatouille Cooking School, Kim Possible: Cruise Control, and Flubber making. Learn more about Disney cruises from Port Canaveral, near Disney World at CruiseCanaveral.com.

This Week's New Hotels

The Country Inn & Suites Tucson City Center is the latest addition in the Tucson market.  It's the first in the area to go "greener" with new "greywater innovations" and an extensive recycling program.

The new Embassy Suites Palmdale is the first in California to feature Embassy's latest exterior and interior design.  The Palmdale location offers business and leisure travelers a nice new "mid-range" option when choosing a place to stay in the Antelope Valley/High Desert region.
