Galveston Cruise Guide

This week we opened GalvestonCruiseGuide.com, our comprehensive guide to cruises from Galveston, Texas.  After spending the next couple of months in Europe, the new Carnival Magic (see below) will be based in Galveston and take week-long cruises on three different itineraries to the western Caribbean and the Bahamas.  Galveston Cruise Guide also has information about Disney Magic and Crown Princess, both headed to this fast-growing cruise port in 2012.

 

 

Launch of the Carnival Magic

Carnival Cruise Line's newest ship, the Carnival Magic launched May 1. Following a naming ceremony it embarked on its inaugural nine-day cruise from Venice to Barcelona, positioning the vessel for a series of 7- to 12-day Mediterranean cruises. In October, the ship will make a Transatlantic cruise, then begin year-round 7-day Caribbean cruises from Galveston, Texas, in November.

This Week's New (or Improved) Hotels

The newest addition to the Birmingham, Alabama area is the Holiday Inn Birmingham-Hoover.  It's got all the latest Holiday Inn amenities in the newest version of the Holiday Inn brand design.  It's on the south side of the Birmingham metro area, near the town of Hoover.

 

Located on State Street on the north side of downtown Chicago, the Embassy Suites Chicago-Downtown is the beneficiary of a $12.3 million renovation. All 367 of their suites were overhauled with new carpeting, workstations, two HDTVs (32" and 40") and upgraded bathrooms.
