Steamboat Cruises Return to Mississippi River

Overnight paddle-wheel steamboat cruises have returned to the Mississippi River for the first time since 2008. Priscilla Presley re-christened the American Queen this week. The ship will have departures from New Orleans, Memphis and other river ports. Learn more at the New Orleans Cruise Guide.

This Week's New (or Improved) Hotels

The new Hyatt Place Boston/Braintree is the first piece of a South Shore retail redevelopment project to be completed.  204 rooms will be ready for guests when it official opens on May 15th.  The hotel is located in the Braintree suburb on the south side of town, adjacent to I-93.

Timed to coincide with Earth Week, the Hilton New York has announced that it's getting a little greener.  A 16,000+ square foot green roof system has been installed on the hotel's fifth floor roof setback, with a lots of vegetation that'll help with keeping things cool and cleaning the air.  A new cogeneration plant is also being added to that fifth floor roof which will use natural gas to generate much of the hotel's electrical and steam requirements - reducing the Hilton's carbon footprint by about 30%.
