Colonial Williamsburg
Since the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg began in the 1930's millions of visitors have come to this town in southeastern Virginia for a taste of life in Colonial America.  Today "interpreters" in period costumes reenact bits and pieces of living in the pre-Revolutionary War era.  Visitors to Williamsburg can walk the streets of the historic district without charge, but admission fees are required to enter buildings and attend some performances.  TheRealPlaces offers a guide to hotels near Colonial Williamsburg, as well as nearby attractions such as The College of William and Mary, Busch Gardens amusement park, and Kingsmill Resort.
Independence Day Cruise
The luxurious Queen Mary 2 cruise ship offers a special Independence Day cruise. Departing July 1 from New York City, the ship  goes to Halifax (Canada) then arrives in Boston in the early afternoon of July 4. The ship stays in Boston overnight, so you will see the fireworks spectacular. Learn more about all the Queen Mary cruises from New York.
