Hello ,

I hope you've had a great weekend so far.

I am writing to tell you a little bit about
Summer Strong #4, the event I went to
yesterday at the Sorinex Headquarters in
Irmo, SC.

In case you didn't know, Sorinex is owned
by Richard Sorin, who is the first person
ever to certify on the #3 Gripper and he
coined the term, "The Blob," for the
severed heads of 100-lb dumbbells
produced by York Barbell back in the day.

Sorinex holds Summer Strong each year in
conjunction with Richard's birthday, but this
is way more than just a birthday party.
It is a clinic, convention, grip challenge and
a party all wrapped up in the spirit of
strength and fitness.

The day started off with a presentation on
Speed Development by Mike Srock.  He
shared some really nice speed drills, many
of which I had never seen before.

Next, Andrew Durniat spoke on Density
Training.  This form of training, which he uses
in his own training and with his clients involves
pair antagonistic movement patterns back to
back, and doing them for 15 minutes straight
in sets of five.  He also spoke on recovery
methods and how to be able to keep training
into your 60's, like Richard Sorin has done.

After that, it was open gym time, and people
could move about and try out the equipment
in Sorinex's expansive facility.  Sorinex has a
lot of nice equipment in there.  Believe me, I
have my eye on a couple pieces there...

After the open gym, it was time to eat and I
found out that in South Carolina, every meal,
it seems is prepared with rice.  I was so hungry
I could have eaten a horse, and grabbed two
bowls of this concoction containing polish
sausage, chicken breast, eggs, and rice.  It was great!

I ate so much that it began to work against me
for the next segment of the day.  Two coaches
spoke on training the Olympic lifts.  Unfortunately,
I did not get their names but their main point was
pretty clear - most of the information on Olympic
lifting and how to do the Olympic lifts is WRONG.
One of the first styles of training I took on when I
became more interested in strength than
bodybuilding was the Oly lifts, and several of the
main points that I remember from the manuals and
DVD's I purchased back then were in direct
contradiction to what these gentlemen were saying.
It was very interesting to say the least.

About half way through this presentation, I was
pulled away by Bert Sorin, along with Chad Woodall,
Rich Williams, Tex Henderson and Andrew Durniat.
It was time to plan for the Grip Strength Challenge
and Record Breaking part of the day...

And that is what I will leave you with for the time
being, .  I will tell you about the rest of
the day when I get home and get the videos edited
and uploaded to YouTube.

, some stuff went down in these two
hours of strength training that has never been
accomplished before and I can't wait to tell you
about them!

All the best in your training, and STAY TUNED!

Jedd
