Exercise Selection Process for Muscle Gain

Published: Tue, 12/20/11

Hello ,

A few weeks ago I posted an article where I covered the three main keys I follow in my main full body program for building muscle and strength.

Today, I posted a follow-up article that covers how I go about selecting exercises.

In this post, I show you how I lay things out and cover an entire upper body push day.

When you go to the site, you may notice similarities between my workouts and workouts geared toward athletes.  That is because of my background as a strength coach, and also my interest in building "functional muscle."

What I mean by that is this.  As cool as it is to walk around with mass, I also like to be able to move and perform, so I do all I can to stay mobile and powerful.  The Grip Contests I compete in are become more and more multi-planar rather than linear, and you never know when the next time will be that I am challenged to a cash game of hoops or beach volleyball.

For that matter, I try to build athleticism into my routine and suggest it in yours as well.

Make sure you stay tuned for the next installment in this series.

All the best in your training.

P.S.  I just found out  I was voted into the Steel Bender's Hall of Fame at SteelBenders.org yesterday!  It is quite an honor for me to be recognized in this honor by my peers and I want to send out a thanks to all who voted for me.  If you would like to get started with Steel Bending, check out my Nail Bending eBook.
