FUNCtional Core or FICtional Core?

Did you know that most of what we
have been taught about core training
is DEAD WRONG.
 
Like, how we have to do crunches,
sit-ups, side-bends and a bunch of
other exercises in order to have a
strong core.
 
After all, if we're sporting a monster
6-pack, we must be "functional" right?
 
Obviously if we have wash-board abs,
then we should be able to lift more
weight, play better in sports, and
prevent injuries, right?
 
If you believe that, then there is a
chance that you don't have FUNCtional
strength and stability, or the
ability to move and control your body
the way you want to.
 
Instead, you probably have FICtional
strength and stability - your stability is
nonexistent that you move poorly, your
posture is bad, and your joint control
is seriously lacking.
 
That is where Eric Cressey and
Mike Reinbold come in.
 
These guys ran the Functional Stability
Training seminar a while back.  They
captured it all on film and just released
the DVD's of the event today.

Here is a run-down of the first 4 sections:
 
Functional Stability Training -
In this section, Mike gives an overview
of what FST really is.  Believe me,
he does not talk about crazy stuff like
squatting on a Swiss Ball.
 
Advances in Core Performance -
Eric talks about the concept of FST
for the core, the true function of the spine,
and how it all relates to injuries, rehab,
and training.
 
Maintaining a Training Effect in Spite
of Lower Back and Lower Extremity Injuries -
Eric looks at the causes and symptoms of
several common injuries encountered in the
low back and from the hip down and how
to address them.
 
These are just the first three sections of this
seminar - there are still three other sections
and the total running time is about 6 hours.
 
This is advanced information guys - perfect
for people who love to devour cutting edge
info and apply it to their training and to the
athletes they work with.
 
I know Eric Cressey personally and the guy
is a complete genius.  I just plain love hearing
him talk - the perfect mix of brainiac and
meathead. The guy practices what he
preaches too, because not only is he
knowledgeable but he's also strong as hell.
 
I don't know Mike, but his section is great
so far - I am DIGGING It!
