Hey, Happy Wednesday! Some
observations...
Loyalty is a good thing — on the whole. Many people value consistency and routine or are creatures of habit. Some of us just want an easy life. All this means change isn’t always appealing — something shown by how people buy dog food. Data from 2023, as reported in this Petfoodindustry.com blog shows that, despite price
increases, pet parents have been loyal to their favored brands, with relatively few switching to lower-priced dog and cat food. Assuming we’re not all so wealthy that personal finances are trivial matters nobody needs to worry about, what can we take from this?
Well, it’s clear pet parents prioritize their animals’ health and
dietary needs. They’ve found a dog food they like and will stick with it, even if it means cutting their cloth elsewhere. This is admirable. But is it necessary? The short answer is no. For one thing, you can shop around on price. Nearly all the highest-rated brands on Dog Food Advisor have links where you can save
money, plus we have a list of budget-friendly dog food brands. But also, and this is something I’ve recently done, it’s good to occasionally change your dog’s food. It’s called diet rotation (I’ve mentioned it before) and you can read all about it here. So, well done to all pet parents
out there for always putting your dogs first. But if you do feel like a change, it’s no bad thing.
