Greetings!

Our dear community member, Prairie Johnson, is setting out on a speaking tour this spring to share the many ways DR lives in harmony with each other and the Earth. DR’s mission is to share our way of life with the world through visitor programs, natural building workshops, and articles about our community life, and now we are sending Prairie to speak directly with your community - if you want her to!

She plans to be on the road for up to a month and a half, starting March 1, and may embark on a second tour from May 15-30. She currently has stops planned in Cleveland, Canton, Oberlin, and Yellow Springs, Ohio. She is then expected to travel down to North Carolina, and then may head west to Texas and back up towards Kansas before she finds herself back in the rolling hills that she calls home. Prairie is still looking for tour stops, particularly in Chicago, Indiana, and Ohio. Would you like Prairie to speak in your venue or hometown?

Prairie moved to DR when she was 14. Over the last 5 and a half years she has been a dynamic participant in every aspect of our village life, including working for our nonprofit, having a seat on our governing council, and, as our Humey Empress, managing our humanure process; one of the most radical systems we’ve had in place for the last 25 years. She also works on the female crew of a natural building project at DR called SubHub, lending her cheerful attitude and hard work ethic to this emerging mutual aid subcommunity.
