Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage

Join Prairie and Next GENNA
Learn about life in community as a young adult

What are you doing this Earth Day?

Our fellow Rabbit, Prairie, will be part of an online event sharing what it’s like to be a young person living at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage!

NextGENNA, a subgroup of the Global Ecovillage Network, is hosting a monthly series called Ecovillage Connections, and they've invited Prairie into the spotlight. Each conversation is an opportunity to explore what it’s like to come of age in a community and hear about the perspective they've gained through their experiences.

Join Prairie as she discusses topics that include: sustainability, decision-making, education, ethics, and conflict resolution in community.

These are subjects Prairie has become well acquainted with over the four years she's lived at Dancing Rabbit. Prairie moved here with her family at the age of 14, and last year she decided to stay even when her family moved elsewhere. Her time in community has allowed her to mature, evolve and expand in self-awareness while developing skills in conflict resolution, nonviolent communication, gardening and natural building.

Prairie is sure to charm you with her words and her insights on community living. She is a passionate poet and writer and one of her latest projects included writing and performing slam poetry for an open mic event (that she coordinated and hosted!) at Dancing Rabbit. It was one of the best events of the year thus far, and no doubt only the first of many where Prairie will unveil her skill with spoken word to the delight of audiences near and far.

Prairie is currently helping build a straw bale and earthen plaster subcommunity "hub" in the village. In the process, she's honing her skills in carpentry, building an earthen floor, and learning the many social intricacies of working with others. Prairie is also training to manage a large garden plot where she'll master the planning of crop rotations, watering systems, planting and weeding, preserving and protecting the harvest from insects and other animals looking for a leafy green snack!

During this 90-minute, donation-based event, get ready to learn more about Dancing Rabbit from the perspective of a young adult who understands the power of belonging and the legacy we create when we work together towards a better future for everyone. At the end, you'll have made a friend at Dancing Rabbit and–who knows?–you might just want to visit in the near future!

We hope to see you there!
