Treat Causes, Not Symptoms
As a chiropractor, I am always asking, "Why?"
Why do you suffer or have pain? There is always a reason you get ill, and the cause can be treated naturally.
You can learn how to find the causes and the cures and how to help your body heal, using safe, natural methods. I have seen a variety of problems: insomnia, constipation, irritability, crying,
ear infections, and all kinds of pains. I have seen conditions like leg pains, diarrhea, headaches, skin rashes, chronic coughs, low resistance, asthma, and allergies. Of course, I treat neck and back pain, which is what most people think chiropractic is all about, but many other conditions are helped as well.
There are natural methods of treatment, which
I have used, as a mother of three and as a chiropractor, for over forty-nine years -- methods that work very well and consistiently. Chiropractors never use drugs or surgery. Chiropractors locate misaligned vertebrae that cause nerve interference, and then make corrective adjustments. The point is to allow the natural, innate healing power to function, thus restoring the body's function and allowing it to do what it is designed to do.
Simply stated, it is like turning on energy that was shut off. It's about aligning the body structures, which affect the foundation of the soft tissue of the body. As an example, if you misalign your upper thoracic (dorsal) spine, this can interfere with the nerve flow to the lungs and you may begin to experience breathing problems. If the nerve from the brain to the stomach is pinched or irritated, you
could have stomach complaints.
Taking medications is not fixing the problem. The subluxations or misalignments must be corrected in order to restore health.
Why are so many people in such ill health?
If you get sick and you come to see me, I will check your spine and almost always find that it is subluxated or out of alignment. In a sense, this is a cause of your sickness. I can address this cause by bringing your spine back into alignment and you will begin to heal. My adjustments to your vertebrae eliminate blockages in the nervous system that were preventing
your body from healing itself the way it was meant to do.
The Three T's- Trauma, Toxins, Thoughts
Here's a
little on trauma.
On the other hand, I might look for a deeper cause. I might ask why your spine got out of alignment in the first place. Vertebrae go out of alignment because of the "Three T's": trauma, toxins, and thoughts. These are the deeper causes of your illness or pain. Let's look at them one by one.
Trauma
Your spine could have gotten out of alignment right from the get-go, during the birth process. If the attending physician pulls too hard, twists too hard, or puts too much pressure on your neck, the damage to the spine can be quite serious with
immediate consequences. This is one reason I see so many children. C-section babies have more problems, as do babies who have been pulled on with forceps. However, less dramatic trauma can impact the spine, as well as lead to health problems down the road, including colic, jaundice, digestive problems, a weakened immune system, and physical disabilities.
As you grow into a toddler, your spine will be affected by everyday bumps, bruises, and tumbles. As you grow into a small child, you will be exposed to harder knocks on the school playground and in outdoor play. In addition, your spine will be affected by "slow trauma" caused by repetitive activities (e.g. playing video games or texting), poor posture while watching TV, the mattress you sleep on, or what you sit on at home, in school, or in the car. And sometimes there are dramatic
traumas--car accidents, sports injuries, or serious falls.
Your spine will be affected by all the traumas of life. The result will be a misaligned spine, which will weaken or inhibit the body's ability to heal itself and increase the likelihood of a variety of illnesses and conditions, not to mention pain and discomfort.
