Show Synopsis
With the help of Lawn Gnome Publishing, this is a short play reading about the story humanization of the mental health of women of color. It's a deep dive
into their soul, exposing their hopes and dreams, expressing their sadness and pain. Showing that they are more than stereotypical, hyper-sexualized beings... that they are just women, like any other, trying to find their place within this world. Trying to express their feelings to others so they can be understood, so others can find a way to relate, So they can be heard.
Character Breakdown
- Lead Role (Adeyemi): (An African American woman, appearing between the ages of 18 to 30) She is a first generation American, dealing with trying to open up about her depression and trying to find ways to heal.
- Supporting Role (Jess/Coworker/Therapist): ( A non-black woman of color or Caucasian woman, appearing between the ages of 20 to 30) The actress for this role will
play three people.
