Show Synopsis
Running, jumping, and falling through this four doored vicarage on a carousel of identities mistaken, stolen, and unwanted. A farce that never loses its steam as The Toop residence is beset by a Russian spy, old friends and worse...early arrival houseguests. A Half naked Vicar, Actor turned soldier, shy priest and a Russian spy cause chaos and confusion all dressed as clergymen. While the Vicar’s American wife and her cockney maid try to sort everything out; including
a not so sober spinster, and a flustered Bishop of Lax who is seeking only the truth.
Character Breakdown
Ida (a Maid): A young, cockney maid. Who always goes above and beyond to do her job. She speaks her mind and does not tolerate any mistreatment towards herself. She has a timid nature that breaks when her limit is reached.
Miss Skillon: A spinster, who seeks the love of Rev. Toop and the demise of his chaotic American wife, Penelope. She’s heavily involved in her church and believes that a lady should be have in a particular way.
Reverend Lionel Toop – The Vicar of Merton-cum-Middlewick and slightly older Husband of Penelope Toop. He’s a busy man, somewhat staid and knows what he wants, he loves his wife and volunteers his time for a choir to come home and face an intruder.
Penelope Toop – An American, mid- twenties, former actress and current wife of Rev. Lionel Toop. Does her best for her husband and church, but her American nature seems to rub her neighbors the wrong way. She’s spunky and has a solution to every problem.
Corporal Clive Winton– A young American actor friend of Penelope’s past now stationed with the US Air Force at Waffhampton Air Base. He drops in to visit, hoping to have a smooth night with his former costar, only to have to experience a comedic case of mistaken identity.
The Intruder – A Russian spy, just escaped prison and now seeks the key to his freedom at the Vicarage and is prepared to do anything to get it. Even if it means becoming a Vicar.
The Bishop of Lax – Penelope’s Uncle Dudley, a man of authority and low tolerance for anything he deems substandard. He relentlessly seeks the truth in this chaos after arriving a night early.
The Reverend Arthur Humphrey- A small, timid reverend coming to take the service for Rev. Lionel Toop. Recites poetry, he’s nice but crumbles under pressure.
Sergeant Towers:This cockney sergeant is the man in charge of finding the Russian Spy. He may miss a couple of things but he puts up with no ones B.S.
What To Prepare
Actors should come prepared with a 2 minute contemporary comedic monologue. There will be cold reading from the script at call backs.

Tuition: This is a curriculum production, so you will need to enroll in a one credit course to be in the production.
