Synopsis
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all
eternity.

Character Breakdown
BABETTE Babette is the maid and “resident flirt” of the castle
BEAST The Beast is the master of the castle who was transformed by the Enchantress’s spell.
BELLE Belle is a smart, confident young woman from a small village.
CHIP Chip is Mrs. Potts’s son, who has become a teacup.
COGSWORTH Cogsworth is the English major-domo of the castle who is becoming a mantle clock.
GASTON Gaston is pompous/dim-witted and will do whatever it takes to win Belle’s hand. Should have a strong singing and speaking voice and acting ability. A3 – F5 Male
LEFOU Lefou is
Gaston’s equally dim-witted lackey.
LUMIERE Lumiere is a self-confident, charming, French mâitre d’ who is becoming a candelabra.
MADAME DE LA GRANDE BOUCHE Madame De La Grande Bouche is an opera singer who is becoming a wardrobe.
MAURICE Maurice is an eccentric, older inventor, yet more importantly, the adoring and protective father of
Belle.
MONSIEUR D’ARQUE Monsieur D’Arque is the dark, creepy proprietor of the lunatic asylum who adds more tension to the story
MRS. POTTS Mrs. Potts is the castle’s endearing cook who has been enchanted to become a teapot.
NARRATORS The Narrators provide great opportunities to involve children that are more comfortable speaking than
singing.
OLD BEGGAR WOMAN/ENCHANTRESS This is a dancing role; dancer must be strong in classical ballet. Female
SERVANTS. We will look for good singers and dancers as they have two big production numbers to sell. Female and Male
SILLY GIRLS The Silly Girls are in love with Gaston and will do almost anything just to be near him.
ENSEMBLE & FEATURED ROLES The featured roles vary in size and vocal requirements. The Wolves are a featured group that requires trained dancers.

Studio 3 is dedicated to providing quality musical theatre training to youth of all ages. We offer classes in dance, voice, and theatre, and have won several accolades for our musical theatre and show choir productions.
What To Prepare
