Synopsis
In a faraway kingdom, the green ogre Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits, runaways who’ve been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty Princess Fiona from the Dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him. But, a fairy tale wouldn’t be complete without unexpected twists and turns along the way.

Character Breakdown

Storytellers: These characters keep the story moving and set up the upcoming scenes.

Shrek: Big, scary, green ogre with a big heart. Excellent comedic chops. A2-G4

Fiona: Princess from the fairy tale books. She sings, dances and acts. Gb3-F#5

Young Fiona: Solid singing voice. B3-C5

Teen Fiona: B3-C#5

Lord Farquaad: A very short man with huge ambition. A2-Eb4 (Male)

Donkey: Brash, loud, fast-talking animal with no concept of quiet time. (Male). D3-E4

Dragon: Must have lots of soul and spunk. Ferocious fire-breathing dragon who falls in love with Donkey. (female) G3-F5

Mama Ogre: Lots of energy & Presence. A3-C5 (female)

Papa Ogre: Lots of energy & presence. C3-E4 (male)

Little Ogre: A role just right for a smaller, younger performer (Male or Female).

Gingy: Gingerbread man who runs away like a fugitive from his baking captors. Lots of energy.(male or female). B3-C#5

Captain of the Guard: Big, booming voice and someone who is not scared to put all the fairy tale creatures in their place. (male or female)

Knights: The Dragon’s background singers who all tried at some point to save Fiona from her Tower but were held hostage by the Dragon. (male or female) G3-D5

Dwarf: Farquaad’s comparably short and gumpy father. (male)

Fairytale Characters: Lots of fun roles that include Pinocchio, the 3 Little Pigs, the Ugly Duckling, the 3 Bears, the Wicked Witch, Peter Pan, the Big Bad Wolf, and more!

Ensemble/Featured Ensemble: There are lots of ensemble roles in tehis show, including the Guards, Duloc Performers, Puss in Boots, Rooster, Pied Piper, Rats and the Bishop, Birds, rees, Deer, Woodland Creatures and more!

Performances will be at Mesa Arts Center.
There is a $150.00 Production fee for Shrek, Jr. Scholarships are available.

Audition Workshop -Sunday, November 8th 7pm-9pm at Studio 3.

What To Prepare

Prepare one uptempo song from a musical that is about 30 seconds to a minute long to be performed with a karaoke cd. Also, you must prepare a 30 second monologue. Come dressed to dance.
