Hello Friends,
Â
Have you ever communicated with your body?
Â
I recently had my knee replacement surgery. After the procedure, I was in pain and wanted to feel better. I wondered, wouldn’t it be nice if I could talk with my body, listen to what it says, and what it may need? Our body is constantly communicating with us, but we might not know what it is saying if we do not listen closely.
Â
For instance, let’s say you have 10 tasks to do in one day. By the afternoon, you feel tired and fatigued. That is one way of your body asking you to relax and take some time off
before completing the rest of the tasks. We are so used to constantly moving, not taking time for ourselves, and not slowing down as we keep working ourselves down our daily checklists without checking in with our self or listening to our body. As a result, by the end of the day, the body can feel real pain.
Â
I communicated with my body like a friend and was moved deeply how my body responded back to me. One of the ways I communicated with my body was to ask how it was doing. I asked if it was feeling tired or hurt, as if I were taking to a friend. I cleared my head and ran my fingers up and down my legs and listened to my breathing. I sat
with the pain from my knees and legs. I did deep breathing. I “heard” my legs, my body, say that it needed some rest. I connected with my body by taking my shower at night, turning on some colorful lights, and putting music on in the background to create a spa like environment while massaging my feet with my favorite essential oils. My legs “sounded” more relaxed and more at peace. That night, I slept so well and had so much more energy the next day to continue my daily exercise to help get my
knees to be stronger on my road to recovery!
Â
It was a great experience. Now, I keep chatting with my body. I believe that speaking with my knees daily - thanking my knees for how much they have helped me walk for so many years and letting them know that we have many years of journeying together to look forward to – has provided me with more energy to get through my daily exercises and routines with feeling less
pain.
Â
Here is another way that I have tried to communicate with my body, mind, spirit, and heart:
Every morning and evening, I choose to engage with one of the many holistic healing techniques I have learned like, EFT, Qigong, Reiki, and Heart focused breathing and meditation.
Â
You can challenge yourself for a week, month, or any number of days that works for you. I have chosen the 100 Days of Qigong Challenge  with my friend and her husband. It is all about willingness to choose and take action steps. My friend and her husband live in a
different country than me, but still, every day we WhatsApp or send each other text messages updating the other that we have completed that day’s challenge. I learned the 100 Days of Qigong Challenge from my qigong master, Master Lin. I have attached the 100 days challenge chart along with this email. It explains that for the first 20 days, you can engage with your chosen healing technique
for 10 minutes a day. Then, after 20 days, you can participate for 15 minutes, and gradually increase to 30 minutes and so on.
Â
If you miss a day, you start all over again! This helps us to stay on track and focused on remembering to give ourselves – our bodies – a moment in our hectic daily lives.
Â
If you would like to engage in multiple meditating/energy healing techniques, try to give yourself at least 30 minutes before switching exercises to give your body time to settle in.
Â
Another thing comes to mind is about silently suffering and stuffing your pain and emotions, which is a breeding ground for illness and disease.
Â
When you go to a theater to see a movie, before the movie begins, you may see the common announcement – silence is golden - requesting you to switch off the ringer on your cell phone and enjoy the movie quietly.
Â
This is good for some situations like watching a movie, learning in a classroom, listening in a meeting and so on. However, when it comes to dealing with pain - physical or emotional - being silence is not golden…Believe me I have done that, and it is not worth keeping silent over. Instead, discuss your feelings, emotions and pain with
your loved ones or even get professional help like a therapist to claim your freedom and enjoy every moment of your life with love and peace.
Â
A question to ask yourself is: Do you have a generational suffering communication block?
Â
What I mean by that is, do you or someone you know go through life silently suffering bodily pain, not sharing with loved ones or taking professional guidance? This kind of an energy block can create tremendous amount of pain and suffering through illness or disease. It is important that we stay true to ourselves and with our loved ones in sharing what ails us. Inner-support and the
support from our loved ones help so much in bettering our health.
Â
Our body is a very intelligent being and it needs gentle, loving care, and support.
Â
From my own life experience, I would say that if you don’t make time to take care of your body, then sooner or later, your body will force you to make time for self-care and self-love.
