Boy, don't we all need Resilience now? If we have ever needed this virtue, the time is now. Covid is raging again, fires are blazing, people are hurting. Health workers are suffering from "compassion overload."
And maybe you are too. Sometimes we need to take breaks from hearing and thinking about all the difficult things in this world.
But we are resilient. We do find hope and joy in spite of adversity. Perhaps in the smile of delight in a child, an unexpected gesture of generosity from a stranger, or a talk with a good friend, we find our resilience.
Meg Mistry, writer extraordinaire, Wellness Advocate, and Virtues Project Facilitator, has written about her incredible story of resilience, as well as courage and other virtues, in this recent article published in Vogue Magazine.
Meg begins: "Our character is our north star, guiding us to our hopes and ambitions. 'It is the inner strength to do the right thing at the right time for the right reasons,' says Linda Kavelin-Popov, acclaimed author and founder of The Virtues Project (TVP), a
global movement that has won praise from the Dalai Lama and the United Nations for its teachings. More important than talent, beauty or reputation, developing our character leads us to success and happiness. Ultimately, it takes us places that money can’t.
Having recently overcome a nine-month-long period of bed rest due to a debilitating pregnancy involving chronic pains and vomiting at least 20 times a day, I learnt that strength of character can pull us through even the darkest days. In my case, it took the form of calling on my inner strength and harnessing courage, acceptance, self-compassion and resilience in my daily life."

Congratulations, Meg, on having this wonderful article published in Vogue!
