Now,
if the trend follows the last 16 years of Oscar winners, we expect to be writing about the winner, "Everything Everywhere All at Once" by A24 Films. Not only is a widely acclaimed film by audiences and critics alike, but it's made of the stuff the Academy LOVES: indie film, ethnicity focus, neuro/mental divergence and much more. Let's review last year's Oscar winner: CODA (and let's
ignore the Smith/Rock slap incident, because it has no place in Indie Film Financing and is longer news, if it ever was). How does 2022 winner CODA affect indie film financing and streaming? About CODA "Seventeen-year-old Ruby (Emilia Jones) is the sole hearing member of a deaf family – a CODA, child of deaf adults. Her life revolves around acting as interpreter for her parents (Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur) and working on the family's
struggling fishing boat every day before school with her father and older brother (Daniel Durant). But when Ruby joins her high school’s choir club, she discovers a gift for singing and soon finds herself drawn to her duet partner Miles (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo). Encouraged by her enthusiastic, tough-love choirmaster (Eugenio Derbez) to apply to a prestigious music school, Ruby finds herself torn between the obligations she feels to her family and the pursuit of her own dreams."
CODA
Financing CODA was independently financed and produced on a reported $10M budget, sold to Apple at Sundance for $25M. Here's the significance: - It is the first time a Sundance premiere has won the Oscar for best picture in the festival’s four-decade history.
- Apple is now the first streaming service to win a Best Picture Oscar.
- CODA is also the 15th Indie Film to win the Oscar in the last 16 years.
Indie Film is BOOMING
and showing no signs of slowing down. Director Sian Heder said, “This is a huge moment for independent film. When we went into Sundance, we had no distributor. I just went into Sundance thinking, ‘I hope somebody buys this movie’ and we just won Best Picture. This is the stuff dreams are made of, it’s really been amazing. Yes, to women out there, to indie filmmakers out there, to anybody who’s fighting to tell a story, this is a beautiful
moment.”
Producer Philippe Rousselet, who made the original 2014 French Film, Patrick Wachsberger and the French firm Pathé and Rousselet’s Vendome Pictures all financed the film. Source: IndiewireIs it time for you to make your film? We laid it all out for

"Financial Film Package Invaluable and Well Worth the Money!!"
I've made short films before, but this is my first feature, and the first film I've tried raising money for. This template, actually the whole package, has been invaluable and well worth the money I spent on it. So much information is packed into what I got that I'm almost dizzy from it all.
"Thank you again so much. In no small part because of you, your fine staff, Nash & Associates and your incredible body of templates and instructions I’ve been able to raise over $400,000 dollars so far for the film. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to raise a dime if not for the detailed and professional deck I was able to put together following your guidelines." - Michael
"I love this program. I'm new to this industry and this is helping me become more professional. I have spent a lot of time working on my own and getting things accomplished but my projects are getting bigger so as I grow and my team grows with me, these tools will help me to communicate better. Having the basic fundamentals can go a long way in this industry and it make it easier to work with other. Thank you for providing a platform for individuals like myself.!!!"
- Owner of K. Simmons Productions
"When I presented my project to my investor, they were blown away how prepared I was and rarely see filmmakers have half the documents I supplied. It showed I was serious as a filmmaker and business person.
"I purchased the Gold package with the PPM. The PPM took all the heavy lifting off and saved me so much money that would of cost me thousands from an attorney. The package got me prepared from business plan to financials. I did my research on my film and similar films and just plugged in the info. I had everything prepared and professionally done. On top of that, they offered a review after I followed the steps they gave me. !!"
- Angelo
"Just want to thank you for your materials and help over the past year. I could not have raised the $1.5 million or made this film without the materials you provided. The bargain of my career!"
- James
"Finished my deck on Friday. Got it into a few potential investor’s hands over the weekend, and by Monday had 3 out of the 10 available memberships spoken for at $160K each. The revenue projections and film comparable services by NASH, along with the business plan and pitch deck templates were instrumental in presenting the project in such a way that financially minded potential investors could understand the movie business, the market and how my project could possibly give them a
substantial ROI. Best money I’ve ever spent."
- Michael
"Undervalued! Honestly, the more I reviewed the assets of this package, the more I thought there had been a mistake, and that I was accidentally given a higher priced kit. It's unbelievable the amount of time, research, education and competency that is offered here. What this will save you in preparation is only surpassed by what this will earn you in execution. If you're looking for ROI, this is the Slumdog Millionaire of Film Business Toolkits. Get it...and get to work!"
"Invaluable Resource - This is my first venture into fund-raising and Film Proposals is the perfect software to help me get started. Clear guidance through the complex business of film financing."
