This week, I organized a course at my clinic. I didn't teach it, just the organization. It was the Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation course for the Animal Rehab Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. We hosted 8 physiotherapists from across the country - Literally! From BC to PEI!
I've tried to do some Christmas shopping... but I am entirely uninspired! And our weather here (my wee part of Canada) is strangely warm. We're set to be 10C today! Meanwhile there is massive flooding and destruction on both the east and west coasts of the country! Crazy!
I hope my American friends had a nice Thanksgiving with family and friends!

Can a class reduce the development and progression of canine cognitive dysfunction? That is the question that four researchers from Ohio State University set out to discover. Their paper was published this fall.
O'Brian ML, Herron ME, Smith AM, Aarnes TK. Effects of a four-week group class created for dogs at least eight years of age on the development and progression of signs of cognitive dysfunction syndrome. J Am Vet Med Assoc. 2021 Sep 15;259(6):637-643.
The study utilized 86 senior dogs, all over the age of 8 years, with and without signs of cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS).
Dog owners completed a survey at baseline and then 3, 6, and 12 months later. Twenty of the owners and dogs attended 4 weekly 50-minute classes specifically developed for senior dogs.

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc,
etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the
Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
