What's new?
Well, Spring is finally in the air! I've noticed many of my patients have been extra goofy! So, they must be feeling the change of the season as well.
On the home front, cows were moved to their calving pasture. We've had one other baby calf... (the hired hand needs to send me his picture, so I can get started with my new calf updates on Facebook!)
I'm trying to help my son's girlfriend figure out the best strategy for getting into Vet School - where to apply - how to hedge her bets. (She's a rural Alberta kid, in her 3rd year of Science at University of Saskatchewan. We understand the Saskatchewan requirements for residency in the province, and we have heard that the University of Calgary will be doubling its intake capacity... but when, we don't know.) All that said, if anyone out there has some
insider intelligence, I'd be all ears! I think she'd be a great addition to the profession!
I'll leave it at that for now!
So, that's it for the updates... On with the show!!

Four Leg BLOG:
Novel MPL Repositioning Technique
|
|
This blog is a review of a recent research article.
Background and Purpose: medial patellar luxation (MPL) is a common condition managed with surgery, medication, and observation. There is a lack of literature regarding specific conservative MPL intervention. Conservative treatment
is important for milder non-surgical cases to prevent progression of luxation and future joint degeneration. The purpose of this retrospective study is to document and investigate the significance of manual 3D repositioning technique, developed by Dr. Susan Davis, on outcome scores of small dogs and cats having medial patellar luxation (MPL) grades one or two.

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET
THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
